West Eyreton School are SMART water users in the Waimakariri DistrictÂ
Why?
- The installation of four large rain tanks allows rain water that runs off two new classrooms to be caught
- The relationship is understood by the children between the water that is harvested and used through small spray irrigators to help their plants grow
- A veggie patch allows the children to participate in growing their own food and seeing the process of water use carried out
- Children are now part of a project that is aimed to teach the students where their water travels to and has an impact elsewhere
